Why this event matters

Most parents notice these things one at a time

A child who never seems rested. A stuffy nose that never quite clears. Snoring you assumed was just a phase. Trouble settling at bedtime, or big emotions in the late afternoon. Bedwetting that continued longer than expected. A teacher mentioning focus. Grinding you hear from the hallway.

Each of these usually gets addressed on its own — by different people, at different times. What parents rarely get is a chance to look at them together.

Sometimes these patterns may be more connected than parents realize — related to how a child is breathing, sleeping, growing, and functioning day to day.

This evening is not about diagnosing anyone from a stage, and it is not about alarm. It is about helping you understand what you may be seeing, and whether it could be worth evaluating more closely.

Signs parents often notice

Familiar patterns, often mentioned separately

  • Snoring
  • Mouth breathing
  • Restless sleep
  • Frequent waking
  • Teeth grinding
  • Bedwetting
  • Difficulty focusing
  • Speech concerns
  • Behavioral or emotional challenges

These signs do not automatically mean there is a single cause, but they may be worth looking at more closely.

Your host

Meet Dr. Kerry Lowery

Dr. Lowery cares for families across Park Ridge and the surrounding communities with a simple belief: the mouth is never separate from the rest of the body. Her approach to dentistry is built on compassionate care, personalized guidance, and looking beyond smiles to total health.

That means paying attention to the bigger picture — how breathing, sleep, oral function, and growth influence one another, and how understanding root causes helps families make calmer, better-informed decisions for their children.

She created this evening because so many parents arrive with the same quiet question: is any of this related? This is her chance to walk through it with you, without pressure and without hype.

A myofunctional perspective

Certified Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist

Gerri has been a certified orofacial myofunctional therapist since 2017. She helps people of all ages build the four everyday habits that support healthy breathing, oral function, and growth:

  • Dominant nasal breathing
  • A good lip seal
  • Strong tongue tone, posture and function
  • A functional swallow

These four goals support the guided growth and development of a child’s cranial, oral, and respiratory system — which is foundational to overall health. Her own experience, and her family’s history with respiratory, TMJ, and sleep challenges, continue to fuel her passion for helping children build a healthier future.

What happens next

If you’d like to look closer, there’s a clear next step

Many parents leave with helpful context and nothing more to do. If, after the evening, you’d like to explore your own child’s situation further, the next step is an Airway Assessment with the Beyond Smiles team — an unhurried look at breathing, sleep patterns, oral function, and growth.

Attendees will also receive information about a discounted assessment option. There is never any obligation, and there is no magic wand — this is simply about understanding patterns and possible next steps.

From a parent

From day one at Beyond Smiles, I felt seen and heard. The team's patience and kindness have meant so much to our family. Looking back at where we were a year ago, the progress is mind-blowing. They have been there for us every step of the way, and we are forever grateful to have found their office.
